Right on! I've given up on reading the news for the same reasons I don't watch tv. I scan NYT headlines now and then to get an overview and then read blogs for more specifics. The only good thing about the privatization and commercialization of traditional media sources is that the populace will take it into their own hands. And that is democracy. : )

I enjoyed and completely agree with your post. We can always say we do not "advocate" war - after all it is a horrendous affair. The bible speaks of war, God spoke of governments to rule justly over the nations. You are right, if this was happening HERE...you betcha we'd have bombed the heck out of Palastine! Israel completely has the right to defend their land and as their Ali, the US needs to stand behind them 100%! I imagine, if Israel did what they wanted to do, we are all afraid of the aftermath (what would the reaction be from those nations who think we are the great Satan) would this ignite a possible World War?? Who knows. Maybe that is why we are always asking Israel to "stay her hand." My heart goes out to Israel and countries like her who put up with years of terror and plight. It is an abomination! Hamas and other terrorist groups must be eradicated..."HOW" is the question we ponder. I agree - these groups will NEVER stay true to their word; they do not want to negotiate a peaceful compromise and they never will. Is this the culmination of "good vs. evil" that we see getting more wide-spread then ever? As we all pray for a peaceful existence among nations, those who seek to destroy us pray for world domination and the destruction of all we stand for. It's a scary world, indeed.

Jessica and I were reading the paper this morning, and there was an article about supporters of Prop 8. We found this quote particularly interesting:

"On Main Street in Seal Beach on Monday, a sampling of supporters vented their frustration over the contentious issue dragging on after a clear win at the polls. They related arguments made before the election -- gay marriage would lead to laws permitting polygamy or beastiality, and that it goes against the 'natural order'."

Funny how the one group still practicing polygamy in this country was the one that spent millions on this initiative. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.

You're going to be more credible if you proofread your material before you post it. Unless, of course, you don't care...some people don't sweat the details. Me, on the other hand, I find the mistakes distracting. I kind of want to know what you have to say though because San Diego is my home town; I haven't lived there in 17 years. And I'm pretty darn liberal, but now I'm in Virginia where I am surrounded by the conservative sort.
